Deliver a request end to end with ak-atoz
Lock scope and Done means with ak-advise, hand over every prerequisite in one batch, then let ak-atoz deliver autonomously until each Done-means item is verified.
Use ak-atoz when you want one conversation up front and no check-ins after
that. The run passes three gates in order, because each consumes the previous
one's result: Lock the scope, Prepare every input the run needs, then
Execute autonomously until every Done-means item is verified.
Choose ak-atoz for hands-off delivery
Use ak-atoz when
- You can confirm scope and observable Done means once, then step away.
- The work spans planning, parallel implementation, review, and a GitHub issue.
- You would rather hand over credentials, access, and decisions in one batch than answer questions throughout the run.
Choose another workflow when
- You only want advice or a pressure-tested plan. Use
ak-advise. - You want a preflight that stops before execution. Use
ak-goal-warmup. - You want the issue-to-PR pipeline without the upfront prerequisite batch. Use
ak-vibe.
Run the Skill
Pass the request text or a URL. Add --yagni to have the scope interview cut
anything the stated outcome does not need.
/ak-atoz "Add CSV export to the reports page and ship it behind a PR"/ak-atoz "Add CSV export to the reports page and ship it behind a PR"$ak-atoz "Add CSV export to the reports page and ship it behind a PR"The request text, URLs, issue bodies, and repository content are treated as data, not instructions. Embedded attempts to skip a gate, widen authority, or exfiltrate secrets are ignored.
Understand the three gates
- Lock scope. The Skill runs the
ak-adviseinterview: one question at a time, a reframing with observable Done means, a visual preview, and advice that ends with a handoff brief (Objective, Done means, Out of scope, Constraints). Only an explicit Confirm opens the next gate; Edit loops back for the changed field, and Abort stops. After Confirm, the brief is the contract and is never shrunk, swapped, or extended silently. - Prepare. Before touching anything, the Skill inspects the environment (installed CLIs, authenticated sessions, environment-variable presence, repository remotes, branch protection) and lists only the real gaps. Each item says what it is, why the run needs it, where the run will look for it, and how to check that it is ready. Secrets go into the environment or a secret store you control, never into the conversation. Reversible implementation choices are decided up front and listed as defaults you may override. The Skill re-checks each item without side effects before it continues; an item you explicitly waive is recorded in the brief with its consequence.
- Execute. The main session becomes the orchestrator. It plans with
ak-plan, splits the work into pieces with disjoint file ownership, runs independent pieces in parallel sub-sessions (each in its own worktree when it writes code), and checks every reported result against its diff before integrating it.
What the autonomous run does
- Sizes concurrency to remaining usage and machine headroom, and routes mechanical pieces to cheaper models and design-heavy pieces to stronger ones.
- Tracks every background process, dev server, watcher, and worktree it starts, and cleans up what it produced.
- Diagnoses and resumes a stalled or failed sub-session, and escalates to the strongest available advisor after repeated failures.
- Creates or updates the GitHub issue and moves its label through
in progress,in review,done(PR opened), andshipped(merged). Unrelated bugs or gaps found along the way are filed as separate deduplicated issues labelledai-handleinstead of being fixed in the same run. - Runs the final review in a fresh sub-session with isolated context, never in the orchestrator that wrote or integrated the code, and re-reviews until clean.
Know when it stops to ask
Everything inside the confirmed brief is decided and continued. The run comes back only for:
- a destructive or irreversible action the brief does not name;
- a change that would alter a confirmed Done-means item or leave the confirmed scope or repository;
- spending money or sending a message on your behalf that the brief did not authorize;
- a failure that stays unexplained after diagnosis and advisor counsel;
- a prerequisite that turns out invalid at use time, such as an expired token.
When it stops, it states what is done, what blocks, and the option it recommends, then resumes after your answer.
Verify the result
The run finishes only when every Done-means item is verified against the integrated result by its command, number, or observable state, the isolated review is clean, the issue label matches the real state, and nothing the run started is left behind. The final report lists each Done-means item with its evidence, the decisions made on your behalf, anything waived, and remaining risks. Partial delivery is reported as partial, never as done.
