ak skills

ak skills resolve

Resolve a SkillX reference to a verified release and report its trust state without downloading skill files.

Use ak skills resolve to turn a SkillX reference into one verified release: its identity, version, release digest, and trust state. The command is a read-only lookup. It installs nothing and never reads or runs skill files.

Usage

ak skills resolve <@publisher/slug[@version][@sha256:<hex>]> [flags]

Supply exactly one reference. Without a version, the newest published stable release is selected. A digest without a version is refused by the provider. The @agentkit publisher is reserved for kit content and is refused.

Options

FlagDefaultDescription
--source <provider>skillxSelect the skill source. Only skillx is supported.

Shared flags are described in CLI conventions.

Requirements

SkillX access is off until you turn it on.

SettingEffect
SkillX onAfter ak update --ssot, or with AGENTKIT_SKILLX=1. Any other value of AGENTKIT_SKILLX keeps it off. While off, the command fails with source skillx is disabled, names the step that turns SkillX on, and exits 2.
ak secrets ref SKILLX_TOKENOptional bearer token. A missing ref means anonymous reads. The token is read only when a request needs it and is never written.
AGENTKIT_HOMEState home for the verified cache under cache/skillx. Must be an absolute path.

A vault passphrase is prompted for only from a terminal, and not with --json or --no-interactive.

AGENTKIT_SKILLX_HOST and AGENTKIT_SKILLX_DEV_TOKEN are development overrides. The host must be localhost, 127.0.0.1, or ::1 with a port. The dev token is honored only together with that host, and the command prints a warning when it is used. Do not use either against a real account.

Output

The result is always marked untrusted: untrusted is true, readable is true, and both installable and executable are false. Resolving does not approve the skill for install or execution.

JSON uses kind=skills.resolve with these fields under data:

identity, version, releaseDigest, trust
source: provider, host, keyId, manifestDigest
cache: offline, stale
untrusted, readable, installable, executable
warnings[]

When SkillX is unreachable, the command serves verified cached data and adds an offline_stale warning. Text mode also prints a notice on stderr.

Effects and exits

The command writes nothing except the disposable, size-capped SkillX cache under AGENTKIT_HOME/cache/skillx. The default blob cap is 512 MiB.

ExitMeaning
0The release was resolved.
1SkillX is offline with no verified cache, or the credential was refused.
2SkillX is disabled, flags or arguments are invalid, or the request is unsupported.
5The release was not found.
7The release is untrusted, revoked, yanked, or quarantined, or an identity or tree check failed.
