ak agents
ak agents show
Inspect metadata for one installed or locally available agent and identify which copy supplied the result.
Use ak agents show to inspect one agent before installation or to confirm the
metadata in the installed copy.
Usage
ak agents show <kit>/<agent>Exactly one ref is required. Canonical refs are preferred; ak:<agent>,
ake:<agent>, and akm:<agent> are accepted shorthands for the core,
engineer, and marketing kits.
There are no command-specific flags. The command is read-only, never prompts, and performs no network or authentication work.
Lookup order
The command first checks
~/.claude/plugins/<kit>/agents/<agent>.md, then falls back to
./kits/<kit>/agents/<agent>.md. AGENTKIT_PLUGIN_DIR and
AGENTKIT_KITS_DIR replace those roots.
If both files exist, the installed copy wins. show does not compare the two
files or report drift. A readable leading YAML frontmatter block can supply
description, model, memory, comma-separated tools, and tags. Explicit
tags take precedence over keywords. Missing, unreadable, or malformed
frontmatter yields empty metadata rather than exposing the Markdown body.
Output
Human stdout reports these fields when available:
ref, name, kit, description
model, memory, tools, tags
state: installed | availableJSON success uses:
schema_version: 1
kind: assets.show
data.kit, data.name, data.description, data.installed
data.tools?, data.model?, data.memory?, data.tags? No file contents, source path, secrets, or Markdown body are printed. Errors use stderr; JSON execution errors use the shared error envelope.

1 | The positional argument count was wrong or a local runtime error occurred. |
