ak agents model

ak agents model reset

Remove an Agent's model and reasoning effort override from one config scope so the next layer decides.

Use ak agents model reset to undo a set, inherit, or adopt in one scope and fall back to the next layer.

Usage

ak agents model reset <agent> --runtime <runtime> [--scope user|project] [--project <dir>]

Exactly one Agent name is required.

FlagDefaultDescription
--runtime <runtime>requiredOne of claude-code, codex, cursor, omp, pi.
--scope user|projectuserConfig to edit: the AgentKit home, or .agentkit/config.yaml in the project.
--project <dir>nearest project config, else the current directoryProject whose installs and config apply.

What it writes

The command deletes the Agent's model and, on codex and omp, reasoning_effort from the selected scope only. The next layer then decides: the other scope's Agent override, a tier mapping, or the adapter default. A reset on a scope with no override reports that it had nothing to change.

Side effects

The command takes the kit lifecycle lock, backs up and rewrites the scope's config.yaml when it exists, then rewrites every installed file of the Agent whose model AgentKit still owns so it carries the newly resolved model. Drifted or unproven files are left alone with a warning. Project scope does not scaffold a config file, since a reset only deletes values.

Output

Human stdout reports reset <runtime> agent <agent> in <config path> (or that the config had nothing to change), one updated <path> line per rewritten file, then the status table.

JSON success uses:

schema_version: 1
kind: agents.model.reset
data.action, data.runtime, data.agent, data.scope
data.config_path, data.config_changed
data.backup_paths?, data.applied?
data.agents[], data.warnings?

Exit behavior

ExitMeaning
0The override was removed or was already absent.
1Command failure, such as a config write error.
2Invalid Agent name, scope, or flags, an unsupported runtime, project scope with no project directory, or a missing --project directory.
4Another AgentKit operation holds the kit lifecycle lock.
