ak skill

ak skill remove

Remove one per-skill runtime record while preserving the shared package cache and documenting orphan limits.

Use ak skill remove to detach one skill from its local runtime cache without deleting cache data that other skills may share.

Usage

ak skill remove <kit>/<skill>
FlagDefaultDescription
--kits-dir <dir>AGENTKIT_KITS_DIR or ./kitsSelect the local source used to validate the skill and its runtime: block.

The command first resolves the source skill.yaml. It therefore cannot clean an orphan record after the source skill disappears or loses its runtime block; those states return 5 or 4 before deletion.

Disk and recovery behavior

The deletion is idempotent and limited to:

~/.agentkit/skills/<kit>/<skill>/

It does not remove ~/.agentkit/cache/<runtime-hash>/, skill content, or kit files. There is no prompt, preview, backup, or rollback. With AGENTKIT_SKILL_RUNTIME=0, the runtime deletion is skipped but the command still reports completion.

To recover a removed record, reinstall from the unchanged local declaration:

ak skill install <kit>/<skill>
ak skill verify <kit>/<skill>

The install can reuse the preserved cache.

Output and exits

Success writes [OK] <kit>/<skill> record removed to stderr and leaves stdout empty, including with --json or --quiet. JSON failures use a structured error envelope on stderr.

ExitMeaning
0The record was removed or already absent; kill-switch no-op also returns 0.
1Parsing or filesystem work failed.
2The reference or flags were invalid.
4The source skill has no runtime block.
5The source kit or skill was not found.

A missing or extra positional argument is rejected by Cobra before the classified path and currently exits 1.
