ak skills kit remove
Drop the personal:<name> references of a personal kit from a scope's skills roots and lock, keeping the kit's own files.
Use ak skills kit remove to drop a personal kit's projections. The command
removes only the personal:<name> references in the scope, for all of the
kit's runtimes or the ones --runtime names. The personal kit's own files and
kit install records are never touched.
Usage
ak skills kit remove <name> [flags]Options
| Flag | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
--dry-run | false | Print the plan, its review findings and plan token; write nothing. |
--scope <scope> | project | Lock and skills root scope: project or global. |
--runtime <list> | All of the kit's runtimes | claude-code, codex; repeatable. Limits the removal to these runtimes. |
Shared flags are described in CLI conventions.
Requirements
The skill store must be on, after ak update --ssot or with
AGENTKIT_SKILL_STORE=1, for dry runs too; with it off the command exits 2.
The store gate follows --scope.
What it does
The command runs the same journaled transaction as
ak skills kit apply, under the kit lifecycle lock, and updates the
scope's skill lock and receipts. Removing a kit that is not applied changes
nothing and exits 0.
- A file another owner still holds stays.
- A file you changed after it was projected is preserved and reported with
ownership.modified. - An alias a legacy kit install also records keeps its files, with a hint to
run
ak kit refresh <kit>. - A removal without
--runtimealso drops the scope's rebase conflict report for the kit.
Output
The text output has the shape of the ak skills kit apply output.
JSON uses kind=skills.kit.remove with the same data fields as
skills.kit.apply:
personalKit, status, requiredApproval, planToken, findings[],
revision, previous, planExit behavior
| Exit | Meaning |
|---|---|
0 | Success, or nothing to change, including a kit that is not applied. |
1 | Command failure, such as a path too long or a recovery that is required. |
2 | The skill store disabled, or invalid flags or arguments. |
4 | Another AgentKit operation holds the kit lifecycle lock. |
5 | Personal kit not found. |
6 | Review required, stale plan token, alias collision (including a legacy kit alias), or an unowned or modified path. |
7 | A link in a target path, or a digest mismatch. |
